Fences With Peepholes Make Good Neighbors

Did Thoreau say
Fences make good neighbors
Was he gay?
He borrowed a hammer from someone
To build that cabin down on Walden
Should have borrowed a pair
Of post whore diggers.

This ain't about Throw a roll of frankfurters down a hallway...
This is about the reality of my next door neighbors.

We had no partition between us in the old days
We just let it all hang out.
I used to go out in Summer
And lay on my chaise
In my short shorts
All greased and oiled and lubricated
To get my package of sun for the year.

If they were at home
Normally she the wife would come out
And throw up a line of clothes
Between my apartment
And their house.

A parent lee
The bitch thought a clothesline
Made good neighbors.
She must be reading that dead beat
Sylvia Plath.

I continued to sun all year
Until I saw the construction team come in
They dug here and they dug there
They dug right out of everything but their underwear
It was so hot
Shirts went flying
I saw the hairy muscles of every man on the project
And I just laid there
Oiled and my tent pole just about ready to pop.

Well they got the Great Wall of China finally built.

I noticed a knothole of a modest size on my side
With some encouragement I got it to come loose
I got a spot with a view
But I see nothing that they ever do.

They did not build their fence to hide themselves
But built it to shut me out.

But I do not worry because now since I got the fucking privacy
I lay out in the nude...
But just in case
They got a space
To catch a look.
