The Redhawk and The Raven

Keen eyed and red-tailed her talons glistened with fallen men.
Singling out the weak she swooped and devoured them.
Playing with their minds, picked apart while they were enamoured.
She, the Red Hawk whore.
Yet she flew in the face of all her namesake was.
Monogamous she was not.
The Raven, stubborn and proud was overcome with passion.
He was forewarned and forearmed, but too headstrong he ignored his gut and was lost.

The Redbird continued her game.
Myopia got the better of her.
As her sights deceived her to what she had gazed in those green preying eyes.
And if she was hoping for a fleeting flying and yet another broken romance she was wrong.

They say a Raven does not stray far from where they are.
Yet this Raven flew far for the promise of love.
A promise that with this method is rare and only lasts for a few.
Upon meeting they were impressed.
Talons caressing they spiraled through the air and to the floor.
Side by side, wing-to-wing they at first in unison flew.
With love and passion keeping them aloft.
Yet a blaze of red and black was too much in contrast.
No more talk of nests.
As they both gave in to their hues.

As the truth did emerge from her feverish beak, she was ended by a reptile she wanted but could not eat.
A Ravens wings clipped.
But quickly he emerged to unfurl revenge.
Awoken was the carrion urge, she had flown too far to the flame and was burned.

Surgical and methodical as in mythology the raven attacked.
Making sure this whore would know the black and her red would fade after sleeping with a snake.
Her lesson she would learn; her medicine take.
Every heart-string was snapped.
Gored this whore would recoil in terror at Poe and “nevermore”
She was destroyed, her mind planted with doubts.
This raven mentally ripped her apart.

Let this be a lesson to all that betray these black eyes..
Though you live far, you are never out of the ravens gaze.
His reach is legend and is power supernatural.
His gentle nature can be tested and pushed so far.
Red was eclipsed and shadowed into black.
This is the story of the Red Hawk and the Raven.
And back in the forest sat upon a tree.
There sat proud, peaceful, watchful and waiting for the next time someone breaks his heart.
