Birds in the Cosmic Sky
Comets are on the fly
phoenixes blazing across the sky
the stars must envy them their blaze
though they fizzle out and die
they are momentarily the center of every mortal gaze
and there are those comets remembered immortally for their days
across the Rosen Bridge our reality must seem an odd sight
kaleidoscopes would show a clearer image of the way things are
stars are wished upon, burning unthinkably hot and bright
they offer guidance and form pictures from a realm too far
generations of men have danced to darkness for favor of starlight
they burn and turn to ash until reborn they rise
starstruck wonders play out before puny eyes
planets come alive across eons
galaxies span their wings as birds of prey
no life to them is more than peons
but life exists in the unfathomable feathers, persisting as it may
ignorance in how small they are, they theorize and play
this universe is but a nest for a greater being than any have an idea of to this day.
