Wake Up
"Why do the poor keep on turning to crime
Instead of finding decent jobs and showing up for work on time?"
Just keep traveling along that school to prison pipeline
It doesn't matter if their crimes were violent or benign
"But they're degenerates
We're too generous
With our benefits
They don't need our government assistance
They'll just spend it on all their drug addictions",
We keep hitting them with all of these convictions
While our profiling increases racial friction
We pride ourselves being a country founded on diversity
Even as white students are filling universities
We act like we're so flawless
But if racism's abolished
Why do we need affirmative action to get black kids into college?
When are we finally going to stop
Oppressing minorities
Too many trigger happy cops
Fuck the authorities
Government gets no respect
Until we sort out our priorities
Headlines about death
I don't want to read any more of these
Why should I stand for the flag
While news is filled with horror stories?
Children getting locked up at our borders
Cold ICE agents "just following orders"
These people are called leeches
By self-righteous Trump supporters
While our country's getting fleeced
By all those wealthy loot hoarders
This fixation on immigration
These family separations
A mass of deportations
Does this make us a great nation?
We all sit back in our chairs
And talk like we care
Rant on social media about how it's so unfair
We put the act in activism
Most of us just lack the vision
As long as our fridges are packed in our kitchens
We're just virtue signaling
Sharing thoughts won't to do a thing
To assist the people that are really struggling
We accuse asylum seekers of gang related smuggling
Without trying to understand
The terrors faced in foreign lands
They come in hopes of granting their children better lives
Without having to deal with all this conflict and strife
But those of us already here hope for better lives as well
We all want to see improvement, but all the lies they sell
Are keeping half our population preaching fictitious statements
Half facts and whole lies, we're put to sleep by lullabies
Counting scapegoats like sheep
Until we end up asleep
Voting against our best interests
Dote apathy as our mistress
Now we've all become indifferent
To mass hypnosis I bear witness
That's why those still aware must go out and protest
I refuse to believe that our cause is hopeless
This path that we're on is nothing less than grotesque
Let's stop these disproportionate minority arrests
