Rose Tinted Glasses

Blossom petals floating by

Carless and free

Hasn't always been like this

There's been rains and snows

Blooms and falls

Many friends come and gone

Years long past have grown sweeter ya' know?

They say it's like wine that way...

Only gets better with age...

It's funny how that happens though...

One day you're an amature photographer

Shooting the scenes of yesterday's tomorrow

Then your looking back on the "good old days" wondering when those photos faded to grey...

It's like how he used to just put those goofy, pink sun shades on and talk about the beauty of it all

Yup, he was crazy that one...

Not a friend in the world he hadn't tried to hurt

Differing values in morality is what pulled us apart

He wasn't a bad man though- Just broken is all...

I thought maybe we could fix him

My whole family did...

Took him in for a couple weeks during christmas and he stole from us...

Left me there to sit and ponder why

Well I saw him again...

It wasn't for a long, long time but I saw him

When he looked at me it was as if he didn't know how to place my face

Looked rght through me I guess...

Still wearing those rose tinted glasses though I see...

With a tiny crack in the lens

I wonder if he remembers that those were once me?

A slightly broken, mostly imperfect image he continues to see...

His name was Ben.

And for what it was worth he was still my friend...

Right up untill the day I died
