Say Not...

Say not that I have died,
Though lying by your side
My heart might cease to beat—
I would give it gladly, my prince.

Say not that I have perished
When anyone I've cherished
Has flown away.
I saved my passing for you, my dear
And gladly await my grave.

If sleep eternal is in your arms
In bliss I shall be entombed—
With night's end falling
I can hear you calling
From below the surface of the pool.

With bouquet of embraces laid to my breast
I sing the hour of love-new found and love left behind—
Say not this repose be my final rest
Though my heart doth shiver with autumn years
This slumbering in the warmth of your hand
Makes a beauty of passages through Genesis
And gladly will I bleed millennia of death
If it means I will hear you calling
With the break of dawn.
