Hurtful Control

A match made in heaven when they did meet
Respectful of each other with a life so sweet
Things changed as soon as rings went on their finger
Controlling thoughts started to cause hinder
For she'd come home every evening and make dinner
Not seeing his dark thoughts in his head that did linger
Sitting at the table he plays with his food
Slowly stirring is his tempered mood
With a sudden outburst he throws his plate on the floor
Calling her names and shouting she is a whore
She gets up and tries to clear the plate away
He pushes her and she begins to sway
Raising his hand he hits her across the face
The plate falls to the floor again and pieces are all over the place
Fears come to the surface as he means her harm
He drags her up off her feet twisting her arm
Her cheek starts to swell and her face starts to sting
There is an indent from his wedding ring
Feeling scared and very sick
She knows she must try to get out of the house very quick
He apologises and say's it won't happen again
And didn't want to cause her any pain
She cannot comprehend what caused this violence
As she lay on the bed and cries in silence
Did he really mean to do her wrong?
And will he do it again before too long?
