A Simple Step
You who are so beautiful, in dreams you die alone.
The fight that cost a lover's heart, in life you lay unknown.
Your hero stands with wounded pride, in a war he fought from home.
Across the sea my armies hide, and cowards return to their bones.
You who are defiant, it seems will never cry.
An ocean's breadth of longing now between our hearts that lie.
A single word, a simple step, a path across the sky.
The ocean might be deep my love, but what if we could fly?
You who are my saviour, when once we come of age;
The bell will toll a bride to be, that blossoms in her sage.
You hold the book of time and life, so meekly turn the page,
For you who are so free in love, can proudly take the stage.
