Practical pallbearer
Clocked out
free for the next 30 minutes
i lean back in my chair
slouch
tilt my head to the right
resting on my hand
i close my eyes and drift
the light
fades
into
focus
pine trees covered
with the whitest snow
dusting every branch
of every tree
for a hundred miles
on partial green mountain tops
with slopes to slide down
treacherous walks
ready to be taken
i hope nature takes back this world
i hope our cities
fall to ruin
and vines grow through
geography globes
blue houses
in a row
with
bowls,and beds,and tables
too big,too little and just right
are taken back in the night
by the bears
who
instill the fright
the mouse will maul the polecat
and the anteaters are not
anti-semitic
where they fake a smile walking to the water cooler
instead of mauling you
like the zebra in the savanna you are
7 minutes left to go
lets see how far the story blows
with the floss between your teeth
batten down the hatches
cause this hangover
is just heating up
hearing myself talk
in this
hard boiled headset
crowds scream “bravo”
as they clap
quietly to themselves
they glued down the chess pieces
because Mrs Norris in padded cell 2-b
KEEPS EATING THEM!
rally the hospital orderlies
we’ve got a riot in the cafeteria
nail me in a crate
break out the tear gas
and mow those puppies down
the foxes are just as hungry as the wolves
Somerset,Kentucky
is where i fell asleep at the wheel driving back
getting my brother out of jail
and almost crashed the car
smells like church pews and new carpet
every time i get on my knees
free for the next 30 minutes
i lean back in my chair
slouch
tilt my head to the right
resting on my hand
i close my eyes and drift
