I Thought it Was Champagne

driving fast, talking slow
what's that bottle on the road?
it looks like whiskey
lets get risky
I think it's champagne

my youthful lips
hungry for a sip
lets just dump it
before we chug it
my mother was an alcoholic

dirt road, dry mouth
one mouthful, she spat it out
one for me, swallowed two
just move on like no one knew
if i'm a good girl, who are you?

riding back, dizzy spell
is this happening? I can't tell
I double checked the label
my palms were sweating on the table

I thought it was champagne...
