these red lines
only skin deep
do not define
any part of me
you see
catch a glimpse
you pry
with ignorance
your assumptions
out of place
invading in
my personal space
my past is done
not on display
cast behind me
thrown away
I don't ask
about your fails
or keep in mind
dirty details
yet mine
are written
and yours
are hidden
so you think
it's alright
to label me
on sight
concerned eyes
unwanted advice
altered conduct
you think you're so nice
but these lines
are only skin deep
they do not define

reminding me
of my misdeeds

Sadly, there are times when someone will ask, not out of concern, but rather for future conversation or gossip, things not of their business. When this happens, I have at times answered their question with the question "Why do you ask?" or Simply say "Thanks for reminding of it!. Either will convey your feelings to them without going further if they have any sense at all. If not, just walk away, for you owe them no explanation.

You're right, sometimes people ask for selfish reasons, this is the hardest kind of thing to deal with it. Makes me want to hide for the rest of my life. That's a good idea though about answering with question, I may try that sometime :) thanks for the comment!

if that's what you needed to do to move on in life, then so be it. That's none of my business (or anyone else's) to discuss. To notice or inquire is one thing but judgement and critique are misplaced.

Makes me think "just back off, it's none of your business"
and sometimes that needs to be said.

Thank you for the kind words :) many people don't realize their criticism is unwarranted, or they justify it for some reason. So you're right that sometimes you just have to tell people straight away to stay out of your business. Thanks for reading, as always :)
