Red and the Wolf

Beneath her scarlet hood
Auburn tresses catch the breeze
Buoyant and light like twirling golden leaves
Rust colored dusk falls heavy on her cloak
A paltry shield from the creeping cold
She trails the scent of woodsmoke spice
As autumn's day crashes into winter's night
Anxious to make her journey's end
Oblivious to danger lurking 'round the bend..

Burnt orange skies quickly fade to black
The hunters moon plays a dark ballad
On the bones of the weeping stars
The rustic hollow within fills him
With the cold weight of ravenous hunger
Shrouded in shadows he slinks
As a whip of scarlet passes by
A devil's smile to slay two hundred souls
Swiftly concealed from her angel eyes..
