if I took it upon myself

If I took it upon myself
Who would truly care
If I took it upon myself
Would they really be there

Can they please step off the band wagon
Noones fooling anyone here
You are covering up a fool of fools
A fool among fools

I imagine they would say
This great young man so determined and gentle
Here lies an innocent victim

If I took it upon myself
And sit up and speak my sins
If I took it upon myself
To end the sequence

Stand up and say I took it upon myself
Not to end the pain, that's all I had
I took it upon myself to leave you
Leave all the ones who left me

In a dull world with false beauty
A great deal but with terms of agreement
A good life full of tax
I should take it upon myself to extract myself from this transaction

If I took it upon myself
They would all be by my side
But just in life during my death
They would let go of my hand
