Floating on Daffodils
I know love at first sight sounds cliché
yet when I saw her in blue I just knew,
never found one who glowed golden aura
or suffused with a warmth I could feel.
(she floated on daffodil fields)
The first time going out
we strolled round the park
last summer at Madison Square.
She wanted to see
the hydrangea display
(nice thought but it's not really me)
While walking through blossoms
I got lost in her eyes
rainbow petals strewn through her hair.
That night she explained
how she lived on a farm,
then talked about meteor storms...
as I drifted off she got really miffed,
"It's not just some rock you big dork!"
She then smiled shyly..I tuned back in
as my freckle-faced girl then said,
"Some meteorites are made with star-dust
far older than the solar system is."
When she spoke I couldn't focus on space
though some space in my heart had been filled
by that freckly golden-glow star-child,
who's farm-raised and floats on daffodils.
