Catching Eyes in an (Un)Friendly Face
Catching eyes of fire
At opposite ends of two extremes
Pretend to be a stranger
Reside within the heart
Defectively it beats, a flaw in a vital system
I thought I had it
Strange, this feeling inside
Excitement laced with fear
Incited by curiosity
Spurned by logical thought
In but a brief moment, spans the spectrum full
Is there anything left?
Breathing becomes a labor
A pounding heart
Cognition blurred
Collapse is imminent
Retreat into shadows, distance self from harm
Am I in control?
Similar desires
Breeding different ends
Pride fuels the blaze
Humility to extinguish?
Restoring the balance is impossible now
I can’t fix this
