Stolen Innocence
Officers got to my house
Before the break of dawn
I rode with them for miles
They told me to stay calm.
"Her body's on the roadway"
The cop motioned to me,
He lifted up the crime tape
So I could go and see.
She laid there with a blanket
Wrapped around her body,
The cop gently unrolled her
The smell, it was ungodly.
Nauseous, I then vomited
And struggled hard to focus,
I knew the woman's clothes
Her face I didn't notice.
Her skin was sunken in
Every feature blurred by death,
Her body bloated up
Things crawling on her flesh.
Her rings and bracelet matched
The cop said, "That's enough."
After they removed her
He added, "Must be rough."
The news was out the next day
The banner headline said:
Prostitute killed, dumped on road
No mention of her kid.
I became a man that day
The child within me gone,
Someone stole my innocence
The day they killed my mom.
Before the break of dawn
I rode with them for miles
They told me to stay calm.
"Her body's on the roadway"
The cop motioned to me,
He lifted up the crime tape
So I could go and see.
She laid there with a blanket
Wrapped around her body,
