In Other Ways

My girlfriends laughed when I introduced him
'Is this a joke', they said, or a spiteful dare?
They couldn't believe I was speaking to him
But not so, I spend time with him cause I care
He's not up to our standards nor lean and trim
Physical beauty I mean, and thinning hair
And he walks sideways and with a crooked limp
Some people may call him a leper, a gimp.
 
And too you notice his crocked eye sockets
His slow gait and posture a bit overweight
But he's fair; in other ways he's a rocket
With me he's ne'er a buck short and a day late
His beauty shines from within have to know it
You see it in his mannerisms so great!
And he leans when you speak, just have to see it
You can tell him anything, it's a secret.
 
Some may think he's lame and uninteresting
But you see, he's taking care of his mother
He really does have a heart that's been breaking
Perhaps too good for this world more sadder  
He may not be your best version of throbbing  
At first sight, but phased he becomes prettier
To bring up his esteem I tip on grooming
And gym just for himself to feel better.
 
He thinks he's to homely to spend time with me
But I tell him looks aren't the main objective
I chose in hanging with him, please accept me
And to lead him on, not my prerogative  
He's also very sharp intellectually  
And can have deep thoughts, it's imperative  
Saw he needed a friend, so I was friendly
We cuddle so he could touch a fille and live.

She is a beauty queen .... physically having modeled before.
But she is drawn to be a friend to this one man not because of his physical beauty.
He is 'beautiful' in other ways ....
