Opalite Skylight
For years I didn't know you, but I knew this empyrean
that's reflected in your upward measured eyes.
And the window to the soul is in that pond.
I guess then I've known you all the time.
Straight North. All North
into the arms of God.
We wash our sins in that vacuous blue,
and Polaris takes leave on our parted steps.
I say, after many years of listless twilight,
we summon by name the spirits we leaned into in the night
that made the night the night.
It's just enough to make the darkness cry moon beams into the joint curtain lengths,
that no one who espies the girth of that curved plastered scaping
is ever
alone.
