Hanging Tree
Deep in the forest there grows a seed
raised to fill the heartless’ greed
stretching its arms into a hanging tree
its strong embrace one day held me
cradled by these strands of wheat
I rocked in the winds of summer’s heat
the rustle of leaves and their gentle caress
fluttered to touch the hem of my dress
bowing my head into a sudden dream
crimson thread on skin like cream
deep in the forest there grows a tree
with bodies to accompany the lonely and free.
raised to fill the heartless’ greed
stretching its arms into a hanging tree
its strong embrace one day held me
cradled by these strands of wheat
I rocked in the winds of summer’s heat
the rustle of leaves and their gentle caress
fluttered to touch the hem of my dress
bowing my head into a sudden dream
crimson thread on skin like cream
deep in the forest there grows a tree
with bodies to accompany the lonely and free.
