One More Little Button

The red sky drips, driving down the sun,
blending land, and sky, making colleague.
Radiating, transforming, falling colors run,
transmutating sand, a shimmering mirage.

The shadows jump at me, a spider,
like a tarantula coming from its hole.
My mind, spinning faster, spinning higher
thinking thoughts, I don’t even know!

Oh, my button, my button of peyote,
how bitter you were on my tongue.
Now that your visions flow inside me,
you’re sweet, how sweet you’ve become!

Cactus burs on my clothes
sticking to the cloth.
I’m running like the wolf,
hallucinating nonstop.

Inhabitations unencumbered,
setting emotions free.
Your hallucinations, dreams, and visions,
a wild coyote.

So, please don’t leave me now
just let me find you.
Let me see you growing
in the desert sand.

Just one more little button
of your sweet peyote!
