Crushed Sunflowers

Today I woke up numb
Living in a state of loneliness that was only caused by your profound selfishness
Not an ounce of emotion covered me as I stared blankly at the walls
Posting vivid flashbacks dancing on the broken glass that dressed my floors
Broken glass that cut my feet left traces of my bleeding soul right to the doors
Cleansing the traces and mentally erasing my anguish
I found strength to turn the page today
I was greeted by crushed sunflowers hidden deep within the flesh of my wound
Within these stained petals I found clarity, understanding, and peace
Thinking of the story of Apollo and sweet Clytie
I outstretch my hands and turn to the sun
No longer hearing the lies from his serpent tongue
I am freed
