Beautiful Soul....
Behind this mask,
Reveals me to you,
With it my dark past,
I am scared and bruised in any mirror,
But shattered and destroyed in my soul,
I can't allow to let myself close to you,
In fear of hurting you aswell,
As I could take away your happiness,
Until you see no good in life,
I can't let you become like me,
Lonely and dismissed,
A misfit in society,
No good intentions,
My sun no longer shines,
And ours will set now,
As I won't drag you down with me,
Your much to precious to me,
So run while you still can,
You've already had the best of me,
I don't want you to see my worst,
A beautiful soul like yours,
Must not be masked....

my girlfriend said the same thing, just worded differently...yet i continued on and chose to love her. I learned things i could never have imagined...old scars that have been torn open wide. Past decisions better left unsaid. But you know what?? It was worth it. Every second and minute of it. Even though many of my nights i spent crying myself to sleep and felt drained the next day. I learned to look past the mask she wears and love the person that she really is...the beautiful woman behind the facade. I've never been happier =) Hopefully you get something from this. I love your poetry by the way. Keep at it
