Miswired

I can still feel it growing
In the back of my head, festering
It hides behind the fortress walls, my defenses are quickly tiring
The beast gnaws at me, constantly devouring
Taking full advantage of this dangerous miswiring

There's a monster deep inside but I won't let it get the best of me
So tell me, trusted scholar, what do you make of my insanity?

Mind is degenerating
Walls eaten away, malfunctioning
The demon hungers for my soul, humanity will soon begin fading
The shadow expands, my brain is still struggling
Trying to fight back against this dangerous miswiring

There's a monster deep inside but I won't let it get the best of me
So tell me, trusted scholar, what do you make of my insanity?

I've put the monster to rest, though not without paying a sacrifice
At least for now I've been freed from the dark grip of insanity's vice
