Winter Drowns

I watch
as the Moon nudges
the Sun
from the sky—
darkness arrives
and daylight has died.

I feel
as a chill governs
the air—
Winter is coming,
barren and bare.

… (but) …

… with You,
I can see
steadfast and true …
beauty’s unlost,
blue remains blue.

… with You,
I am an ember—
I glow and burn hot,
impervious to drowning
in a world that is not.
