Only The End

It seemed to be in the blink of an eye.
They told me the time had come.
I was pining for them to belie.
The dread mounting, like the beat of a drum.

Our memories were soft,
When we were young.
My thoughts were aloft,
With songs to be sung.

How elegant and collected you were.
Shining silver through the darkest hour.
The light faded, and you seemed to whisper,
This love of ours,
This time we shared,
This ardor you showered,
This life can no longer be bared.

I wished it be longer,
The time that we spent.
Your eyes stopped forever.
Part of me stopped when you were sent.

Those golden eyes,
Were in so much pain.
Your beautiful lies,
Won’t be told again.

It was only the end.
