Unspoken

I, am finally,
Apathetic; where empathy once dominated.

Witnessing you hurt, hurt me.
But watching you disown and discard my aid,
Annihilated me.

I burned inside,
Like just another one of your cigarettes in disguise.
You set me on fire and watched as I died,
But like a phoenix from the ashes I rise.
I survived,
I’m alive…

The toxins purified,
After everything went awry.
And all I envision when I look to the sky,
Is that I will soar, that I will fly.

And when I look back, years from now,
They’ll say “just look how we thought he’d drown.”

The pain will still remain,
But I will not let this happen again.

I’ve grown older and wiser,
You’ll never defeat me.
You can’t play the miser,
I have no sympathy.

So when scarlet eyes lay lost in the city lights,
You will be haunted.
Madness will return to face you will a menacing grin;
To plunge you into a world of agony, truth, and sin.

And I will feel indifference.
