Missing You
The dreams began after you left.
Dreams in which I was alone and I screamed your name
and you never came.
Those dreams became nightmares and those nightmares became my life,
they wouldn't let me sleep and so I stayed up all night staring at nothing
and wanting nothing more than to see you appear in my room like a ghost.
Rumors said that you had met someone else,
others said you were going to live your dream,
many said you were never coming back.
I cried those lonely nights when I thought about you and realized how much I needed you.
How I was never grateful for you until the day you walked out of my life for good.
I still can hear your voice calling my name and see your eyes looking into mine,
feel your mouth when you kissed me,
your arms as you held me never wanting to let me go even though I pushed you away so many, many times.
And then when I realized what I really needed was you, you were gone.
As soon as you left my heart shattered and my sanity began to unravel.
Unravel like a spool of thread to never be rolled up again.
Dreams in which I was alone and I screamed your name
and you never came.
Those dreams became nightmares and those nightmares became my life,
they wouldn't let me sleep and so I stayed up all night staring at nothing
and wanting nothing more than to see you appear in my room like a ghost.
