Wilting Lillies [My Mistake]
I was water
Spilling through
Our broken
Leaving the lilys
To wilt
Play with fire
And
You’ll get burned
Were words I learned
Whilst finding myself
Weaved
Into the arms
Of another
A stale embrace
A bittersweet taste
Lead to the leap
From quacking grounds
Into the midsts
Of my mistake
It is mine
And
Mine alone
Though now I know the weight
Falls heavy upon two
I hate myself
For straying from you
But
Long have the waves
Been calling my name
And I caved
Bent to Heed
Their beckoning
It had been a lifetime
Since I tasted salt on skin
So my selfish hunger
Overcame me
And
I gave in
Now the water
Is all but lost
For the shelf-life
Of our broken vase
Wilting Lillies were the cost
Of my selfish mistake
Spilling through
Our broken
Leaving the lilys
To wilt
Play with fire
And
You’ll get burned
Were words I learned
Whilst finding myself
Weaved
Into the arms
Of another
A stale embrace
A bittersweet taste
Lead to the leap
From quacking grounds
Into the midsts
Of my mistake
It is mine
And
Mine alone
Though now I know the weight
Falls heavy upon two
I hate myself
For straying from you
But
Long have the waves
Been calling my name
And I caved
Bent to Heed
Their beckoning
It had been a lifetime
Since I tasted salt on skin
So my selfish hunger
Overcame me
And
I gave in
Now the water
Is all but lost
For the shelf-life
Of our broken vase
Wilting Lillies were the cost
Of my selfish mistake
