To Understand My Fall

What is your opinion on torture,
For some it is their most perverse pleasure,
And to others, their most heinous crime,
But to me, it is an art meant to be perfected for wartime,
A proper torture is not judged by the pain inflicted or even information extracted,
No, the sole measurement of a torture's effectiveness is how much a victim's mind has been eradicated,
is their mind still capable of ruling their body after the deed is done,
Or is left vacant and rotting like my husband's corpse in the afternoon sun,
If your victim's mind still maintains yet a fraction of autonomy you share their failure,
For the powerful such as us must hone our minds for galactic dominance,
While the weak such as their must have their minds molded for involuntary service.
