The Gem's pearl

A loner a lover im not sure what youd call me
Search beyond sands, search beyond seas
Constantly searching for stability
Belonging everywhere and no where
At the same time
searching for treasures i hope to find
Yet i dont know what im looking for
cause i dont even know who i am anymore
A girl in a womans physique
Burdened beyond what one would ever think
Cant make a wish from a dandelion stem
Or decide between a pearl and a gem
One is flawless the other finely polished and shimmers in light
Neither represent my heart tonight
one is from the sea and the other from the earth
One requires digging the other safely preserved
So i guess im more like the pearl who likes to be safe
Inside a shell id like to stay
And the gem is rough around the edges though i like to touch
I know it will hurt me too much
beautiful it is to gaze upon
Sorrow ill feel once its gone
The way it shimmers in light
It isnt easily crushed nor dimmed in the darkest night
But sheltered pearls dont come from hidden rock
And gems are kept in glass cases securely locked
