Perfection Imperfected
I changed my hair
And changed my clothes.
Shed my beliefs
And swallowed my pride.
Who I was, what I stood for
I hid down deep
In an attempt
To be your everything.
But I found a light
A shining angel
Who showed me
What I'd forgotten.
Now I've found my voice again
So I break these chains
That hold your beautiful image
In blinding place
And I shatter
The image you made of me.
As my perfect imperfections
Shimmer on the ground.
I take a step forward
And spare no backward look
When I step into the past
I'd hoped for my future.
And changed my clothes.
Shed my beliefs
And swallowed my pride.
Who I was, what I stood for
I hid down deep
In an attempt
To be your everything.
But I found a light
A shining angel
Who showed me
What I'd forgotten.
Now I've found my voice again
So I break these chains
That hold your beautiful image
In blinding place
And I shatter
The image you made of me.
As my perfect imperfections
Shimmer on the ground.
I take a step forward
And spare no backward look
When I step into the past
I'd hoped for my future.
