Haze

What haze now pervades my gore?
Some most-beloved parasite
That sins for me a score
In the labyrinth where foes alight.

Their laughter as my poison weeps.

Swollen footfall guide me past these claws
To the stone with my name desolate
From whose earth melancholy draws
The unwashed stain of fate.

I cannot wash away the dead stars.

I was but a calamity washed ashore,
My language the tide that swept free
A wasteland that echoed before
With the dread that stirred in melody.

My words feel for a broken heart.

Frozen my delivery to that sound
Led lachrymosal through rising rays
To the cherub of burial ground
As dust of my blood faded in the blaze.

Is the sun truly king?

The serpent who feasts of his own tail
Awaited me with crimson in his gaze
And I swore sickened my spirit fail
As I bled dry through the maze

What terror hangs from these walls?

Where eclipse beckons to the light
And shelters the wounds within my sight
And the scream of wind my ears
Births the whimper my demon hears
Crossing in orisons my stilling breast
To lay my bones in shadow dressed.

Is eternity a scream?
