A Walk on New Year's Eve

Sing winter a song most rightly sung
To we who dare to love and love so young.
Welcome night star bedight and clear
With a moon’s low shadow near
And towers singing the coming year—
Sing winter a song most rightly sung
To we who dare to love and love so young.

My darling by each frigid mile
We walk sharing our smile
I vow to dream where we stand
I vow to dream by thy hand
When the moon has given rise
To constellations not as fair
As thou standing there
Below the silent skies.

Sing winter a song most rightly sung
To we who dare to love and love so young.

Farewell drear ossuary marked “Alas!”
Thy fell door I must bravely pass
By to the other side where
I may breathe a freer air.
I vow to dream with the dawn
I vow to dream ever and anon
When the moon falls low
There shall turn no tide
For all the beams go
To thee by my side.

Sing winter a song most rightly sung
To we who dare to love and love so young
Sing winter a song most rightly sung
To we who dare to love and love so young.
