LIFE IN REVERSE
When we decided to go for the studio apartment
I remember thinking that this could be the beginning of a regression that takes us back further
Toward our younger, independent days
The long-distance relationship
And ultimately
Life without each other
At one moment, at least,
I saw it coming
But I never would have guessed
It would happen so fast
That by New Years
You would be gone.

I really like how the last 2 lines of the 2nd stanza tie into your coda. Gives it a nice voice. Sad though...
