... Just Before the Dawn

My dear, I hate to admit it,
But when you’re right, you’re right.
We find ourselves enfolded
In the gathering veil of night.

A rising dark surrounds us,
Dimming all that once was bright.
And everything we used to love
Has vanished from our sight.

We couldn’t hold back the blackness
Though we tried with all our might.
Now creeping shadows blind our eyes
To accentuate our plight.

We’re lost within an ebon shroud
Even our love cannot fight.
So how ‘bout you get your fat ass up
And turn on the goddamn light!
