The sea

The sea
06 DECEMBER 2015, 07:03 PM
The cool waves lap at her bare feet.
The steady breeze blows,
The light dress around her legs.
She stares at the waves crashing,
Against the shore.
She thinks about a life,
That never happened.
Where was the white Knight,
On his gallant steed?
Where was her prince charming,
To live, happily ever after?
These things were not meant to be.
Her world turned upside down,
Early in her life.
Married to an abusive man,
Who kept her hidden away.
As she stands on the shore,
Her hands shaking,
She thinks of her new found freedom.
A single tear slides down her cheek,
And a smile crosses her face.
She will never be hit again...
