I could spend a lifetime hating you.

I could spend a lifetime hating you,
But why? I have to say.
Because of what has gone between us?
Surely it can be sorted some way.
Because I still have desire for you?
It's not fair to make our friendship to pay.
I could spend a lifetime wanting you,
I would only waste away.
I could spend a lifetime trying for you to love me,
It would be like to trying to find a needle in hay.
I could spend a lifetime scared of your presence,
Being only warmed by the sun rays.
I could spend a lifetime searching for your voice on the wind,
Yet only hearing "Are you okay?"
I could spend a lifetime praying for you,
But when do I ever pray?
I could spend a lifetime trying to find you,
Though I would only find the end of the day.
I could spend a lifetime saying I love you,
It would only turn you the other way.
Now I think about it, I could spend a lifetime without you,
So I would rather spend a lifetime your friend.
