Life's Meaning
If there's some great meaning to life why hasn't somebody told me?
I just wanted your advice, never asked you to hold me.
I never begged for your love nor for all your attention,
Trust me, being in the spotlight hadn't been my intention.
Some things, you know, they just happen to happen,
So I'll just let it happen while I sit back and laugh,
Smiling at the old times, at my own stupid ass;
Like back in grade school, had no friends or inspiration,
Lying through my teeth just trying to spark conversation.
Sometimes I would confuse the truth with all the lies I was spittin',
But now my lying days are over and all you'll hear is the truth.
Excluding toxic people from my life, should I say goodbye to you?
When you look in the mirror can you stomach the reflection?
You're beautiful the way you are, you don't need any corrections.
I swear this isn't a lie, I told you, with those I'm finished,
I'm just trying to make sure your confidence doesn't diminish,
Because I swear your eyes are the most beautiful I've seen,
But I understand the compliments have been few and far between..
I know you've never been told how truly astounding you are,
Honey don't lie to me, I see the scars up and down your arms,
I wish I could hold you close and kiss away all the pain,
Go ahead and cry, nobody can tell in this rain.
And even if they could you know I would never judge you,
I have my own scars that I worked so hard to pull through.
You see, we're all human, we all deal with the stress,
But why would you turn such a beautiful wrist to a mess?
I know I don't have the meaning of life, but this can't be it,
Not slowly destroying ourselves bit by bit,
If I had to make a guess it would be to forgive and forget,
And to try to live your life without feeling any regrets.
I just wanted your advice, never asked you to hold me.
I never begged for your love nor for all your attention,
Trust me, being in the spotlight hadn't been my intention.
