Touch
I know not how to instigate a touch,
is it acceptable to grab your hand on a whim?
Is it acceptable to just embrace when I need you close to me?
Would you reject it, or accept it?
Your fingers dance across the table,
All I can do is subtly place my hand in their path.
The top of your arm to the cheeks of your face,
Are these going to far?
So I settle for pokes and prods,
purposefully antagonizing as to draw your hands to me,
So I settle for the hug goodbye,
Though letting go is the hardest thing for me to do.
I dream of entwined fingers,
I dream of crushed lips,
I dream of bodies pressed,
I dream of any movement that brings yours to mine.
The tips of your fingers playing idly on my arm,
Each movement a jolt of electricity,
Your shoulder pushed up against mine in comfort,
Each breath one I'm content to be my last.
You move in and around me,
As if naive to the effect,
You play in and around me,
As if you have no idea.
Is it obvious to those around how my body shifts to you,
Like you’re the gravity holding me to this world?
Is obvious to the those around how my eyes brighten up,
Like your the most beautiful light they have ever seen?
So I beg you to instigate,
Lead my actions so they cause no offence,
Grab my palms to your chest,
so that I can feel your heart beat in unison with mine.
