One Sided
From a distance I observed,
I saw the spark in your eyes that once was lively die to a dull light,
Your face became crowded with hard lines,
As if you haven't slept for days.
But knowing me,
Pushed it off as just a rough night.
You hid yourself very well,
You fooled even me.
You laughed, you smiled, you danced,
As if nothing was different.
But late at night when no one was watching you'd take off your mask,
Rub your eyes,
And stare at yourself in the mirror.
You were probably asking yourself if it was worth it,
And no, nothing is worth more than your happiness.
So you left, without a word.
Leaving me devastated as to why,
Blaming myself for your sadness,
Taking the blame, to make it easier on yourself.
I had nothing.
No reason as to why you left,
No insight on what you were feeling.
Nothing but my theories and devastation.
Months passed when you finally decided to let me in on your sudden departure.
You weren't happy, you felt tied down, you felt you couldn't truly be you.
And I understood.
I still love you, care for you, and support you.
And then you smiled.
For once in many months.
And that was enough for me to see you were finally happy.
Seeing you smile was enough for me.
I saw the spark in your eyes that once was lively die to a dull light,
Your face became crowded with hard lines,
