Soulmates
If there's one thing I won't ever begin to understand
it is how we survive each new day
with hearts made to break, stretch, and bend.
This pain is becoming much too great.
I understand the pain that comes with a broken heart
but every day I spend with you,
there's no pain that compares to
having to leave you each night- I watch my heart stretch
without breaking apart.
Every mile down this road,
it only makes it a little harder to breathe
and I don't care for this to keep happening.
With each passing hour that I'm intertwined with you,
it only leaves me wanting more.
I feel like I've known you forever
and maybe that's what soulmates are
supposed to feel like, but if that's
truly the case, then having to leave you each night
is only cruel torture.
My old heart wouldn't be able to stand this-
this journey of twists and turns, miles taking me back
to a ever stranger growing house-
its no home that isn't your arms.
I cried as I drove, having to watch my home go
far behind me, but peace comes so softly because I know
soulmates must mean I'll be soon seeing you once again.
You're the only one that makes me feel so certain,
my very best friend.
So my heart survives the bending, it takes the stretching
and it holds on past its breaking
point because we have the next minute, mile, and forever.
Your love makes me collide with stars,
your love makes me spin, twist and careen
through all of space and time- will you be forever mine?
it is how we survive each new day
with hearts made to break, stretch, and bend.
This pain is becoming much too great.
