Diamond Girl
Who is the girl
That hides in the shadows
The one with the barbs
And the blue-flamed eyes
And why are you afraid of her?
You want things to be
As you say they are
But women are more complicated
Than one, two, three.
You are willfully blind
And dragging me with you
Why do you not at least try?
I am not more than one
But I am not just me
And I am that hiding, frightened girl
Who will not be silenced.
You can not keep me
If you will not keep all of me
When did I become a threat?
I like to name my mischief
And give voice to my sweet side
You have said I am your precious jewel
So why do you wish to cover my facets?
Light hits a diamond and each time
A different color glows within
Why can not I be diamonds to you?
That hides in the shadows
The one with the barbs
And the blue-flamed eyes
And why are you afraid of her?
You want things to be
As you say they are
But women are more complicated
Than one, two, three.
You are willfully blind
And dragging me with you
Why do you not at least try?
I am not more than one
But I am not just me
And I am that hiding, frightened girl
Who will not be silenced.
You can not keep me
If you will not keep all of me
When did I become a threat?
I like to name my mischief
And give voice to my sweet side
You have said I am your precious jewel
So why do you wish to cover my facets?
Light hits a diamond and each time
A different color glows within
Why can not I be diamonds to you?
