Dancing in the Dark

(Based on the quote: "We are all searching for people, whose demons play well with ours.”)

Often Times...I am utterly alone,
in the blackened silence that is my own.

In the solace of the tacit room,
is where my misery begins to consume.

Swallowing me, Til' I am no more,
reminding me of the pain I bore....

My inner demons chuckle and hiss...
mocking me from my internal abyss.

I felt that I was the only one,
that was systematically undone.

But upon viewing the poetic arts,
I've noticed similarly fractured hearts.

Those who stumble in the dark,
as insecurities wail and hark.

This void of mine is so alluring,
a perfect sadness, ever obscuring.

Like minds find their way to me,
I'm like a beacon of adversity.

Every so often there comes a time,
when their agony melds with mine.

Creating a darkness that is so pure,
becoming numb, as our souls inure.

So let our devils dance and play,
as we crumble from mental decay.

They trod and frolic upon the ashes,
while the last spark of joy dimly flashes.

As the light of goodness met its end,
my misguided demon had found a friend.

Sowing seeds of chaos and torturous wonder,
Our ranks began to grow in number.

So will you join us in our dance?
Succumb to sorrow, take a chance.

Wallow with us in endless despair,
and bask in the darkness without a care.
