Fight Club (a party in the mountains)

It all began
with a feminine group effort
to fuel the fire
rocks wood and kindling gathered
while waiting for basslines
to infiltrate
our sprawling field of freedom.

Enough narcotics and booze
to sedate
a small heard of elephants
and a few tents no one slept in
were littered here and there
as our fire roared
our spirits roared along side it.

It was a DJ family reunion
all the stories of the glory days
sprung to life
as I saw for the very first time
all their colourful characters
coming together.

I couldn't stop dancing
or smiling
and after eight hours of non-stop movement
I threw my face to the brightening sky
and in triumph
embraced the glory
of a beautiful morning
shared with my beautiful friends.

I lay in the sun and collected
the loose ends
the memories I wanted to keep forever
and I bet you were
apart of it
capturing the last few moments of silliness
drunken tom foolery and sunshine
by the waters edge
I swear
I never wanted to leave.
