Another Guy
I wasted a lot of time
When I could have made you mine.
I knew right from the start
that I'd always have your heart,
but I took you for granted
and used your love to get the things that I wanted.
Now I'm just sitting here alone writing this poem,
no need to rehearse the words I just know 'em.
And you are there in his arms,
helplessly lost in his eyes.
How you respond to his touch and to his charm
breaks my heart and I try so hard not to cry.
I finally admit though it took me while,
I've lost you to another guy.
Although he could never write you a poem that is as long as mile,
you still chose him and I don't know why.
Now I have to live with the fact that I wasted time,
when I had the chance to make you mine.
