Broken Heart
I lay and watch. My heart is broken.
A million pieces lie scattered.
It's almost time, I sense the unspoken.
No one notices, no one can see.
I stand and walk over,
I take his hand and whisper.
Secrets that shouldn't have to be kept,
But alas he is no more.
I watch as he bows and exits the room.
I feel the joy yet watch in sorrow.
I know he has his arms wrapped around me.
I can hear his thoughts, I want to cross that line.
But a cry echoes in my ear, a child forgotten.
I turn and watch him bid me stay.
I reach, fingers grasping the morning hours.
"NO!" I cry, as he fades into memories.
"Someday, not yet." is the tune of the morn,
As the tears start falling, I am reminded again,
as his heart lay lifelessly beating,
leaving mine broken, alone and bleeding;
Our love reaches beyond the stars,
love so pure and passionately ours.
And there I lay the very last long kiss,
Awaiting the day of heavenly bliss.
