The Labyrinth
Feels like a nightmare, my senses are slowly fading
My thoughts are drowning out, the silence is deafening
My mind has become an endless labyrinth, full of twists and turns
Stuck without the blueprint and no ability to return
The maze grows with the deeper recesses I reach
I'm trapped, please send help I beseech
I feel helpless with danger lurking behind every recess
Shadows in the distance shape shift and begin to coalesce
A horn bellows in the distance sending a familiar shiver up my spine
The ground trembles briefly giving way for the path to align
There in the distance, the dark shadow stands ready for war
Steadily approaching with a march that shakes the very floor
A cold gust maneuvers through the maze chilling straight to the bone
I'm frozen dead in my tracks, my limbs turn into stone
I try to cry out for help but I choke on the bitter cold air
For what comes next, even the most tried souls cannot prepare
The shadow grabs me in its clutches and squeezes tight
Its eyes are as black and dead as night
Its claws puncture my lungs, slowly crippling my body and will
The moonlight glistens against its armor as my body lay still
Fear, Doubt, Failure and Death appear as if from nowhere
Engraved deeply as if the soldier has somehow peered into my soul
As the moon fades back into the clouds, the boy says a prayer
Blood spills out from his body as a whole
But with a smile and deep sense of consolation
The maze finally set the boy free and offered salvation
The boy closes his eyes for a while only to awake once more
Standing once again at the entrance of the cursed labyrinth door
My thoughts are drowning out, the silence is deafening
My mind has become an endless labyrinth, full of twists and turns
Stuck without the blueprint and no ability to return
The maze grows with the deeper recesses I reach
I'm trapped, please send help I beseech
I feel helpless with danger lurking behind every recess
Shadows in the distance shape shift and begin to coalesce
A horn bellows in the distance sending a familiar shiver up my spine
