When Two Cultures Collide

by gentlegirl

Oh the beauty of it all
when love comes face to face
the demands of each
running a fast pace

She giving all
to a feel she has never known
He trying to match this
love that has grown

Love from her
a once guarded heart
He so afraid of
the love she imparts

Cultures so different
she so naive and sweet
He so pure in heart
yet not innocent, they meet

She trying to escape
from her broken dreams
He a seasoned lover or
that is how it seems

She the innocent victim
en-captured with his charm
He has best of all worlds
she now in his arms

She again deceived
just like as before
He vows his love and begs
please he'll do no more

She with shattered heart
quietly hides within
He now to realize
a treasure she is to him

Her trust is slow to mend
taking months on end
He can't understand why
she's doing this to him

She wraps herself so tightly
in feelings of unknown
He says it's all her fault
the feelings she has shown

She cowers now within
of mistrust and alarm
He again reassures her
using all his charm

She leaves and returns
and leaves so many times
He draws her back within
using his loving plies

Her gift to him now
she tries to trust once more
He twist the knife in her heart
saying she falsely swore

She falls while running from him
to escape his touch
He catches her unwilling heart
the one he loved so much

Her gentle spirit broken heart
hidden now from reach
He's learned his hardest lesson
she the one to teach

Their cultures have collided
while once holding hands
His culture can't relinquish
always with his demands

She and he once lovers
forever to be one
No longer now the dream
all has come undone

He would not wait for her
now his broken heart
Thoughts of betrayal
driving them apart

No way to mend this
the love they both knew
dishonesty felt by both
was all that now grew

His time to leave had come
as she had done before
both their hearts broken
crumpled to the floor

Lovers can't be friends
once the love has waned
again they are strangers
left only memories and pain.

She begged he say "goodbye"
but this he wouldn't do
so only left to happen
hearts again now two.
