You Don't Have To Be

[center]I'm sorry for swallowing my soul
So I could help you become whole
I know you're hurt that I hid me
But to me, it was worth it for you to see

That you're more than the world
You're more than just some girl
All I needed was for you to smile
To stop drinking up his vile

All I needed was for you to be happy
That was all that was necessary
So don't be sad as I pass away
I've always been prepared for this day

I didn't tell you that I was sad
I didn't want you to be mad
Or waste the effort on me
When you were dealing with your own self esteem

So smile for me darling, pretend
Pretend that there is no end
To your life, your happiness, your heart
Because I've loved you from the start

That day you picked me up on my own
You already had me, I wish you'd known
Just how much you mean to the world
Because you don't have to be just some girl

You can be everything you meant to me
That's my last request
