Something to Think About

While you are waiting,
the pain has yet
to set in,
since this is obviously
something
you've dealt
with before,
you might contemplate
the window
I've set you by
for your amusement.

In your struggle,
the eternally
internal yearning
you've had all your life
for a contemplative
counterpart,
someone who both
gets you
and wants to be
got by you,
I instruct you
to observe the faintest star
in the evening sky.

If you were there
on that star,
and you looked out
into that dark sky
and saw its faintest star,
and you allowed yourself
teleportation
there and beyond
to its own faintest star,
you would then have reached
the beginning first steps
of the distance
I have come
to meet you.

To the faintest star's
faintest star's
faintest star,
this is the distance
and reach of the realm
wherein is
the clutch
of the grasp
of my hold,
and the only thing
worthy
of my attention
in all that way
is you.
